Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has decided to observe “UP Tourism Day” annually on February 14 which is also celebrated as Valentine’s day. The first “State Tourism Day” will be celebrated in Lucknow. State government has planned a series of activities for celebrating the day.

Biologist Kathy Niakan has received permission to modify human embryos from Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA). Niakan’s application was approved on 14 January, 2016.
Kathy Niakan is a developmental biologist, working in human developmental and stem cell biology. She becomes the first scientist in the world to gain regulatory approval to edit the genomes of human embryos for research.
