Actor Rajesh Khanna loved his house Aashirwad a lot. He purchased this house and remodeled it many times according to his own choice. Rajesh Khanna took his last breath at Vardan Aashirwad on 18 July 2012. But after his death, the house was just a piece of property for his family.
So the family sold the iconic bungalow for 90 crores in 2014. But in about a month there will be no Aashirwad. The new owner of this house is all set to demolish the building very soon. This is a sad moment for people who worked with the superstar.
They are sad thinking that big part of Kaka’s memory will not be there anymore. Kaka loved this house so much.
Anita Advani, Rajesh Khanna’s live-in partner and caregiver of his last couple of years wanted to save the house. She wanted to make the Carter Road bungalow a museum of Rajesh Khanna’s works. But she was not married to him, so no court listened to her. She is probably feeling lost today.
In August 2014, the bungalow was sold to Mangalurean Shashi Kiran Shetty who has planned to build a multi-storey building after demolishing the Aashirwad. So, in few years we may see a three or four-storey building on that 6500 square foot property.
Few months ago Mangalurean Shashi Kiran Shetty, the executive chairperson of Allcargo Logistics which is a part of Aavashya group said that the building is more than 50 years old and this is the reason they will have to redevelop the same. He also said that time that he had a direct deal with Rajesh Khanna’s family and they family looked gracious during the process.
Akshay Kumar, Dimple Kapadia and other family members decided to sell the house in 2014 and they earned a lot of profit.
If they are okay with the decision of demolishing Aashirwad then who are we to feel sad about?
Rest in peace Kaka, we miss you.
