Fitoor Movie Review
Hindi Film “Fitoor” is the perfect example to learn “How to butcher a classic piece of writing” as the Fitoor story is based on or adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novel Great Expectations.
OMG! How Abhishek Kapoor could say the movie is influenced by one of the best-written stories of all time? This is like saying that Meryl Streep inspired Kim Kardashian! Seriously Abhishek Kapoor!
you almost made us believe that we will be able to watch an entire Katrina Kaif movie, probably for the first time.
Fitoor’s first poster was brilliant – this gives most audiences a feel that this will be one of the most special movies of 2016. Katrina was seen with red hair in Cannes, that was a disaster.
However, the first poster of Fitoor was an effort to make you curious as you look at the girl with red hair from back in the midst of a snow capped background. Sadly after watching the movie, we can say that all the money spent on her hair was a “Waste”.
The movie is so bad that even the great artist Tabu was unable to save it.
Katrina plays Firdaus. She will make you wonder how she is still working as an actress in Bollywood. Tabu is playing the mother of Katrina. She is more elegant and prettier than her. Tabu is also not in her best form; We can understand that not getting good roles regularly made the artist in her die a little. She almost sleepwalks in her role, which is shocking for her fans like me. She does not deserve to be part of movies like Fitoor.
A little bit about the Hero now. From childhood, I am going to movies to see people clapping when hero makes an entry. No one clapped when Aditya Roy Kapur was introduced in Fitoor. Bollywood needs to stop making him a hero of a movie, he just does not have that special appeal.
He is good looking no doubt, but that’s all. His dialog delivery is lifeless too. His smile does not reach his eyes. He is also way too aware that he has built six pack abs for the movie, which stops him from justifying his role in the movie.
Katrina and Aditya Roy Kapur are competing to become the worst actor in the movie. Both of them are rather fit for supporting roles with actors like Priyanka and Ranveer. The producer-director Abhishek Kapoor would have thought that using a great novel title to describe his movie, shooting beautiful scenes in Kashmir and rendering good-looking faces on screen would be enough to impress the audience. Well, the recipe didn’t work.
Songs and Singers
Music by Amit Trivedi is really good. The locations of Kashmir and magical lyrics penned by Swanand Kirkire create some romanticism in this otherwise dull movie. No wonder Fitoor opened so badly at the box office.
