Get a Trim
Summer is the best time to sport a short hair look. If you are one of those gals who love to experiment with their hair, then hit the salon right now and get yourself a trendy summer savvy hairstyle right now. And in case you can’t part with your long locks, then you should at least get rid of overgrown hair or split ends as a routine hair care.
Cover your head
The UV rays can be harsh on your mane and damage your scalps too, causing perspiration and irritation. Use a head scarf, wide brimmed hat or an umbrella to shield your hair from the sweltering heat of the sun. You can use hair serum, which also doubles up as a hair sunscreen.
Massage your scalp
Make sure that you include a few minutes of scalp massage in your daily hair care regime, advisably before going to sleep. Perform a scalp massage with wet or dry hair, based on personal preference, as long as hair is clean. Move your fingertips inside your hair and apply a gentle pressure on the scalp. This will not only release tension from your brain but also remove dead cells, prevent hair loss and promote blood circulation to the roots of hair.
Tie them up
There is nothing better and more comforting than pulling your hair up in a slick bun or polished ponytail. If you have very long and thick, then you could plat them or tie in knots.
Use a moisturizing shampoo
Switch to a moisturizing or sulphate free shampoo to keep your traces stay soft all day long. Wash your hair frequently but not daily because it may take away the natural moisture from your hair. You can even opt for an oil massage in case you have excessively dry and frizzy hair.
A hair conditioner is a must during any season to retain the moisture in hair. The right way to use a conditioner is to apply it in the ends of your hair after every shampoo.
Rinse and dry properly
You should rinse your hair thoroughly till every bit of shampoo or conditioner disappears. A cold water rinse is the best way to do it. Its summer after all and a cold water shower is always welcome! Plus, it will also close all hair cuticles. After hair wash, pat it dry gently with a towel or even better, let it dry naturally.
Avoid heat and colour treatments
It is advisable to ditch blow dryers, hair curlers or flat iron treatments during this season. Also colouring your hair may not agree with summer as UV rays can actually cause a change in the shade of highlighted strands. It may only end up damaging your hair further. If at all you need to, consult your beautician or a hair care expert first. Those who already have coloured hair should judiciously follow the tip # 1.
Keep the dandruff at bay
Dandruff is not a good sign, especially when the temperature is scaling high. Keep your scalp clean and free from perspiration as much as possible. If necessary, use an anti dandruff shampoo but only once a week.
Drink water and eat healthy
Do we really need to elaborate on this? Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated and include lots of fruits and vegetables in your diet.
