The self driving car by Google has recently caused a small accident where it crashed a bit the side of a bus. But thankfully this self driving car accident in Mountain View California did not cause any injury to anyone.
The California Department of Motor vehicle and Head of the self driving car project Chris Urmson have stated this self driving car accident in Mountain View as a sedate fender bender which is an American slang used to describe the small collision.
According to the report, the self driving car by Google was traveling at 2mph. It approached a red light with giving the signal that it is about to turn right. But as the light turned green, the car found several sandbags in a storm drain in its way. It waited for few minutes by letting other cars pass on before it could do something.
In the meantime, a bus traveling at 15 mph came from behind and assuming that the bus would either slow down or stop to let the self driving car by Google out, the human in the robotic car did not intervene the self driving computer and thus the self driving car accident in Mountain View took place.
Google have stated in a report that the accident happened due to their fault. If the car had not moved, probably the accident would not have taken place.
However, it is to say that Google self driving car drives more carefully than average person as it has clocked up various states in the US till date and only some minor accident was being reported.
